Mineral Lake

Rainbow and Brown Trout, Crayfish
At the town of Mineral in Lewis County.
Take U.S.12 east from Interstate 5 to Morton and turn north on Highway 7, following it about 13 miles to Mineral Road. From there it’s a two mile drive to the town of Mineral and Mineral Lake.
The lake has a public boat ramp. Mineral Lake Resort offers boat rentals, cabins, and RV sites (no tent sites), a large and productive fishing dock (fee) bait, tackle, and snacks. A small market in town sells fishing licenses, and gas is available in Mineral.

Fishing Mineral Lake:
Northwest Washington’s #1 fish producing lakes with trout to 14 1/2 pounds! yes pounds not inches. Not everyone fishing Mineral Lake will catch a monster trout of such impressive proportions, but it does tend to treat anglers very generously. Both rainbows and browns put on weight fast in this rich lake, filled with bait and crayfish. In my past experiences still fishing tends to be the trick for the big trout, Powerbait or a nightcrawler. I have caught fish to 6 pounds trolling Pop Gear and worms. But I have also lost big fish that way, with their soft mouths and the emergance of the Pop Gear at the surface of the water will rip the hook right out of their lips, where as still fishing, fish tend to swallow the bait. I have had success with big browns in the lake too, using crawdads that I caught in the lake as bait. The only down fall with this lake is overcrowding, get there early if your wise.
